The Marne was affected by significant oil pollution between Friday and Sunday.

A slick of domestic fuel left a sewer located in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis).

"I had never seen something of such magnitude," explains an officer of the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) to the

Parisian.

The emergency services intervened quickly to block the sewer concerned and absorbent devices were installed.

But the water table spread all the same "over about five kilometers" to the area around the Joinville-le-Pont bridge (Val-de-Marne).

"The banks will remain soiled with fuel oil"

“At first, I thought the tablecloth was right in front of the club, then I quickly realized that it actually took the entire width of the Marne.

It smelled very strongly, it gave me a headache, ”testifies a member of the Joinville canoe-kayak club.

For his part, the president of the association for the protection of the environment of Polangis and the quai de la Marne, Michel Riousset, wonders about the consequences on the fauna and flora: "The banks will remain soiled with fuel oil. .

"We have carried out toxicological and explosive measurements, and the measurements do not exceed the thresholds", tempers the BSPP.
