It is already time to think about Christmas gifts.

After a year 2020 marked by a very tense health situation and many restrictions, the French hope to be able to enjoy the holidays more.

And therefore spend a little more, even if they are almost one in two to estimate that the coronavirus will still have consequences on their purchases this year.

The average budget will be 257 euros this year, against 249 euros in 2020, according to a study carried out by Kantar for eBay and relayed by

With this larger envelope, the French intend to spoil more relatives: 9, against 6 last year.

And 53% of respondents say they are ready to turn to the second-hand market, against 50% in 2020. They are even 64% to consider it among 16-24 year olds.

Black Friday awaited by many French people

According to this study, the most generous region will be Normandy with a gift budget of 269 euros on average.

Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (268 euros) and Occitanie (267 euros) complete the podium.

At the other end of the scale, we find Hauts-de-France with an average envelope of 229 euros.

Many French people are waiting for Black Friday, from November 26 to 28, to fully embark on the race for Christmas gifts.

36% of them believe that it is "important to do Christmas shopping during Black Friday".
