On the 21st, about 400 volunteers including local residents participated in the pumice removal work on the coast of Motobu Town, Okinawa Prefecture, where a large amount of pumice stones were washed ashore.

In Okinawa Prefecture, a large amount of pumice stones have been washed ashore mainly in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa since the middle of last month, and pumice stones have been washed ashore for about 300 meters on the Gushiken coast of Motobu Town, and the originally white sandy beach is covered.

On the 21st, pumice stones were removed at the request of the local residents' association, and more than 400 volunteers, including not only residents but also people working in the town, participated.

While a large amount of pumice stones were filled up at the beach, the participants scooped the pumice stones on the beach with a shovel or hand and put them in a bag to clean them up little by little.

Sea turtles were usually found to spawn on this beach, and locals were worried about the impact.

The work was done for about two hours, and according to the town, 110 bags, a large bag that can be filled with about 1 ton of soil, were removed.

A local female in her 60s who participated said, "I usually take a walk on a beautiful sandy beach, but I am surprised at this situation. I want you to return to the original beach as soon as possible."

In addition, a girl in the third grade of elementary school who participated in the family said, "I am shocked because the pumice stones are full and the fish die. I want to make the beach beautiful together."
