Zhangzhou Hand Puppet Show is a comprehensive traditional folk art composed of puppet show, hand puppet show and puppet head carving. Its long history has spread to Southeast Asian countries as early as the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty.

In 2006, the Zhangzhou puppet show and Zhangzhou puppet head carving were included in the first batch of national intangible cultural protection lists.
