Ex-Poland Prime Minister's driver's license revoked for speeding

Polish opposition leader and former European Council President Donald Tusk was forced to surrender his driver's license and pay a $120 fine for speeding.

Tusk, Poland's prime minister from 2007 to 2014, declared on his Twitter page on Saturday that the punishment was appropriate: "I accepted it without discussion."

Police said officers stopped Tusk, 64, near the town of Malawa, north of Warsaw, on Saturday morning for driving at a speed of 107 kilometers per hour into a town, while the speed limit there is 50 kilometers per hour.

Tusk is the leader of the conservative Liberal Civic Platform, Poland's largest opposition party.
