Emi Wada, a costume designer who has won an Academy Award for the movie "Ran" directed by Akira Kurosawa, has passed away on the 13th of this month.

Emi Wada was born in Kyoto Prefecture.


After graduating from university, he designed various costumes as a costume designer, and won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design in the movie "Ran" directed by Akira Kurosawa, which was released in 1985.



In addition to Japanese films such as Hiroshi Teshigahara's "Rikyu" and Nagisa Oshima's "Taboo", he also designed costumes for overseas films and theatrical performances.



Recently, he also worked on costumes for the movie "A Story of a Boatman" released in 2019, directed by actor Odagiri Joe.
