Elderly woman rescued alive after her home collapsed in Italy

An Italian firefighter rescued an elderly woman from the rubble after her home collapsed near Naples.

The Italian Fire Service published video footage of the rescue operation in the town of San Felice-et-Cancelo on Twitter on Friday.

According to media reports, the woman is 74 years old and her husband is still missing.

Hopes faded that he would be found alive, according to ANSA news agency.

The elderly are said to have been in the two-storey house when it collapsed, presumably as a result of a gas explosion in the morning.
