Champions of Africa, the Fennecs had a hard time against Burkina Faso in this final of group A. Could Burkina Faso stop the series of Algeria which remained on 32 matches without defeat before this decisive confrontation, offering a ticket for the dams?

The challenge was enormous for the Stallions who played at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium in Blida, where the Fennecs remained undefeated after 42 games in this arena.

A diminished Burkinabè team, but fighting

While the Algerians could be satisfied with a draw to continue the journey that will lead to Qatar, Burkina Faso had no other option but to win in this final of group A. But it is a Burkinabè team diminished by the injuries of its four attackers (Bertrand Traoré, Lassina Traoré, Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba and Mohamed Konaté) who made the trip.

Decreased, but voluntary.

Djamel Belmadi, the coach of the Fennecs, could count on his usual executives, in particular Islam Slimani.

It was he who had the first big opportunity in the 18th minute on a strike from the right.

Burkina retaliates in the wake with a block.

But Raïs M'Bolhi is on the parade.

With his 26th goal in the selection, Riyad Mahrez opens the scoring in the 21st minute and thinks he has sheltered the Fennecs.

On a quick free kick, Belaili crosses into the penalty area.

Bounedjah lets the ball pass between his legs and behind at the far post, the Manchester City player concludes with his left foot.

He even had the opportunity to double the lead in the 32 minute with his left foot.

Zakaria Sanogo's first national goal

But the Fennecs must remain vigilant.

In the 28th minute, Sangaré strikes with his right foot and M'Bolhi has to relax to push back the leather.

Finally, Burkina Faso returned to the race with the first selection goal of Zakaria Sanogo (37th) after a decisive pass from Sangaré.

Substitute, Feghouli found the frame in the 68th minute on a pass behind Belaili from the penalty area.

Algeria takes back control after having been often jostled.

But a penalty converted by Dayo puts the pressure on the Greens for the end of the game (83rd).

All competitions combined, Algeria has therefore not lost a single match since October 19, 2019, against Morocco.

But tonight, the Algerians who can still dream of Qatar have mostly played to scare each other.

We can say that with two assists, Belaili saved the Greens.
