Several dozen foreigners in an irregular situation employed by DPD (parcel delivery) or other subsidiaries of La Poste began a strike on Monday in Coudray-Montceaux in Essonne, in the hope of being regularized, according to the unions.

The strikers denounced in a press release a form of "abuse [...] organized by La Poste through a cascade of subcontracting".

They point out in particular errors on the payslips, unpaid hours and "inhuman working conditions" according to them with "15 minutes for unloading a truck".

La Poste, requested, did not immediately comment.

The sorting platform where these striking employees work in Essonne, south of Paris, "is far from everything," commented Christian Schweyer, member of the collective of undocumented workers of Vitry.

"Some are forced to walk for an hour to reach Corbeil-Essonnes, then take two night buses" to return home.

La Poste, once again questioned

The interim company employing the strikers was to meet them, according to Christian Schweyer.

Undocumented demanding regularization of their immigration status.

For Catherine Fayet, secretary of the Solidaires 91 union, responsibilities are shared: “La Poste and temporary employment agencies […] subcontract a workforce that they find easily and that they can use.

"

At the end of October, more than 200 undocumented workers had started a strike movement coordinated by the CGT, on at least eleven sites in Île-de-France, to obtain their regularization.
