The "Pink Panther" is a fact, not just a "cartoon"... Pictures

For the first time in the history of India, locals in Bali district of Rajasthan have discovered a rare 'pink tiger' in Ranakpur district, which is located in the Aravalli Hills.

Officials stressed that this is the first time that the "Pink Panther" has been seen in the country.

While the Indian leopard usually has its fur speckled against a pale yellow to yellowish-brown background, the pink leopard has reddish-brown skin and distinctly different spots.

Experts said the strawberry-colored fur of this tiger may be due to a genetic condition.

Forest officials confirmed that local residents claimed to have spotted the "pink leopard" several times earlier.

However, the big cat with strawberry fur was only recently photographed in the area.

Wildlife photographer Hitch Motwani said he took pictures of the leopard after a four-day search.

He said he was between five and six years old.

A report in the Times of India quoted Deputy Forestry Governor Fateh Singh Rathore, "It is sometimes claimed that the strawberry-coloured tiger has been seen by locals in Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh due to the vast expanse of forests."

"As wildlife protectors, we aim to protect the tiger by restricting human invasion of its territory," added Rathore.

The Kumbhalgarh forest area is located in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, which extends over an area of 600 square kilometres.

It is home to the Indian leopard, Indian wolf, striped hyena, golden jackal, and sambar, among other species.

Earlier in 2012, a tiger was spotted with spots on pink fur in South Africa.

It was spotted back in 2019.

The term "Pink Panther" became famous through an American cartoon series of the same name, which was produced during the 1960s and continued until 1980.

Fascinating.
