A new advisory board for the "Emirati Books for Young People"

The Emirates Council on Books for Young People announced the formation of its new advisory council, to continue working to achieve the council’s goals in facilitating communication and exchange of information between institutions and individuals concerned with children’s and young people’s books, developing creative works concerned with children’s literature, and building bridges of communication with authors, illustrators and cultural institutions inside and outside the country. In order to devise creative ideas that contribute to achieving the council's mission and goals, on the sidelines of its participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair.

The Advisory Committee represents the UAE Council on Books for Young People in various cultural events, such as workshops, story-reading events, conferences, and international book fairs, and discusses the council’s work plans and achievements during the council’s quarterly meetings.

The new advisory committee includes: Director of Exhibitions and Festivals at the Sharjah Book Authority Khawla Al Mujaini, Director of Sharjah Public Libraries Department Iman Bushlebi, Director of Publishers Relations at the Emirates Publishers Association Majd Al Shehhi, author of children’s and young people’s books Nadia Al Najjar, illustrator of children’s books Wafaa Ibrahim, director and founder "Astronomy for Translation and Publishing" by Yazia Al-Suwaidi.

On the appointment of the members of the new advisory board, Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, founder and honorary president of the UAE Council on Books for Young People, said: “Through the new advisory board, we look forward to a new phase of work, highlighting the importance of the category of children and young people on whom their societies depend to be future pioneers and makers.” She added: "We are confident that the diverse experiences and expertise of the new committee will be an addition to the children's book industry, and achieve a value that matches the rapid developments that the world is going through, especially with the announcement of the Sharjah International Book Fair, the largest exhibition in the world at the level of buying and selling copyrights for the year 2021. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi confirmed that the formation of the Advisory Council of a group of Emirati women with diverse and great experiences representing all sectors concerned with children’s books, including exhibition officials, writers, illustrators, and librarians, comes from the belief in their efforts and their ability to achieve fruitful cooperation, advance the children’s book, and lead a stage An important stage of caring for this category and developing its knowledge.
