After the death of 14-year-old Josefine from Aschersleben in Saxony-Anhalt, an arrest warrant was issued against a peer on the basis of an urgent suspicion of manslaughter.

This was announced by the police and the public prosecutor in Magdeburg on Thursday.

The 14 suspect was taken to a youth institution after the Magdeburg district court issued the arrest warrant at the request of the public prosecutor.

A second 14-year-old boy was reportedly released for lack of suspicion.

Josefine was found dead in a garage complex on Wednesday.

The investigators assumed a crime.

The youth had been missing since Thursday last week.

On that day, she had wanted to meet her ex-boyfriend to hand over personal items.

It initially remained unclear whether the German, who was urgently suspected of being a suspect, was an ex-boyfriend.

On Thursday, hundreds of people expressed their grief over the death of Josefine, who had been missing for a long time, at the wood market in Aschersleben - a town with almost 27,000 inhabitants.

They lit candles, laid down flowers and stuffed animals.

In one framed letter it says: "You were torn from life far too soon." In another: "Forever best friends."

The police had secured traces in the find area until late Thursday night.

The area was cordoned off over a large area.

A special commission was then set up to deal with the case.
