Regarding the new technology of "pre-implantation examination" that examines the chromosomes of fertilized eggs and returns those that are normal to the uterus, the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology has experienced miscarriage more than once, saying that it is expected to have the effect of reducing miscarriage. We have announced a plan for a couple to do it at an accredited facility of the Society without setting an age limit.

This proposal was announced by the Japanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology on the website of the society on the 10th.

According to this, a new technique called "PGT-A", which examines the chromosomes of fertilized eggs and returns the normal ones to the uterus, leads to pregnancy even if in vitro fertilization is performed twice or more in a row. There is no age limit for couples who do not have a miscarriage or who have had a miscarriage or death more than once, and it will be conducted as part of fertility treatment at an accredited facility of the Society.

This technology has been clinically researched by the Society for more than 4,000 people, and while it has been effective in reducing miscarriage, in about 60% of cases, chromosomal abnormalities were found, so fertilized eggs were used. It has been shown that the overall probability of having a baby without returning to the womb was no different than without the technique.

The Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology wants to solicit public comments and decide on final implementation conditions by the beginning of the year.
