China News Service, Hong Kong, November 9th (Suo Youwei, Wei Huadu) reporter learned from the 2021 Xibao Selection Press Conference of Fusheng Cantonese Opera Troupe that the troupe will be in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong from December 21st. Many Cantonese opera performances are held in the Central Theatre.

Wang Mingquan, one of the founders of Fusheng Cantonese Opera Troupe and a well-known Hong Kong artist, said that in the future, he will continue to train new Cantonese opera actors and hope that Hong Kong Cantonese opera can be promoted to the Greater Bay Area.

Fu Sheng Cantonese Opera Troupe was founded in 1988 by well-known Hong Kong artists Luo Jiaying and Wang Mingquan. On the basis of retaining traditional techniques, it created a new style to make Cantonese opera more accommodating, broader and more dynamic. There are dozens of adaptations or new screenplays. Make the development of Hong Kong Cantonese opera more diversified.

According to reports, the performance was supervised by Wang Mingquan and coordinated by Luo Jiaying. Famous Cantonese opera actors such as Long Guantian, Liang Zhaoming and a group of young actors were invited to participate in the front and backstage performances and productions.

There are 11 performances in total, and some of the performances are in cooperation with charitable organizations, and there are charity shows. The funds raised from the performances will be used for community welfare and charity.

Wang Mingquan said at the press conference that this performance is her favorite repertoire, and it is suitable for the younger generation to perform, hoping to pass on the classic works.

The most important thing now is to consider how to develop Hong Kong Cantonese opera in the Mainland.

She believes that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a big market. "There are about 70 million people in the Greater Bay Area who speak Cantonese. I believe it will be easier to accept Cantonese opera."

She welcomed the proposal in the latest policy address of the SAR government to support the development of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong. "The resources of the private sector are limited. If we can get help from the SAR government, I believe the progress will be smoother."

In terms of cultivating young talents, Wang Mingquan said that Fusheng Cantonese Opera Troupe has trained about 140 new talents in the past. Most of them have already joined the troupe or have served as Cantonese opera teachers. The troupe will continue to train.

She believes that in order to attract young people, Cantonese opera should start with education. Let children be exposed to Cantonese opera from an early age, just like piano and violin. Give them a choice. Those who are interested can continue to participate in training classes or even participate in performances.

It is reported that the performance was originally scheduled to start in February this year, but it was postponed due to the new crown epidemic.
