For the past year, Tigray, a small province in northern Ethiopia, has been in the throes of a fierce war.

Several reports conclude to mass abuses committed against civilians by all the opposing camps.

Sébastien Németh, the former permanent special envoy of RFI in East Africa, visited Tigray in the first months of the conflict.

In this first episode of

Witnesses

, we discover what the capital of Tigray looked like a few months after it was taken by Ethiopian government forces.

We understand why the war started, what forces are present and we realize how this region is plunged into a deep humanitarian crisis.

Sébastien Németh also speaks to us, in a very touching way, of the situations he witnessed during his reports on the spot.
