Compensation for victims of sexual abuse in the Church will be financed by the sale of "goods" or a "loan", announced Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, president of the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF).

The bishops had been meeting for several days in Lourdes to decide on the follow-up to be given to the report of the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (Ciase), chaired by Jean-Marc Sauvé, which revealed the extent of child crime in the church.
