Astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, who arrived at the International Space Station in April, will return to Earth on the same spacecraft on the 9th after completing his stay for more than half a year.

This was Hoshide's third space flight, and he was the second Japanese captain of the International Space Station, as well as the fourth extravehicular activity in total.

The spacecraft on which Mr. Hoshide was aboard left the International Space Station shortly after 4 am Japan time and began flying for his return to Earth.

The spacecraft will land in the Gulf of Mexico off Florida, southern United States, approximately eight and a half hours later, after midnight Japan time.
