Fridays for future Greta Thunberg leads youth climate march: "Our emperors are naked"
The year 2019 was a before and after in the social movement of protest against the climate policies developed by the countries of the world.
How could it be otherwise, this movement was led by young students -both high school and university- who perceive that their future and that of their children is in danger if urgent measures are not taken by governments around the world. world.
The beginning of everything from the Swedish student Greta Thunberg, who in August 2018 began to miss class every Friday at the institute (by then she was 15 years old), to demonstrate at the gates of her country's Parliament.
That was the initial stimulus that the movement needed.
But it was not only Greta's initiative that led to this movement; The lack of real commitment from all the national governments of the world made young people see that they could not remain silent and that they had to do something to make the future a reality. This awareness was global, so that the rallies were held in different cities at the same time; This increased the perception that climate change and the change in consumption habits and, ultimately, in life, were something for everyone, regardless of where we live.
The progress made in that year seemed to be forgotten in 2020, as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The confinement, first, and the restrictions on the concentration of people, later, it seemed that they were going to mean a significant slowdown in this youth movement in favor of climate change.
However, it was not;
protests continued on social media, allowing their slogans to travel from one part of the world to another without the need to go outside.
After the social restrictions to which we have been subjected, the desire to be together and share a motto and action has been greater, which, in my opinion, is giving a huge boost to all the youth protests in the street in favor of the climate change.
