Whether by train, bus or ferry - Boji loves local public transport.

But he is not a typical commuter but a tall, slender dog with cream-colored fur and floppy ears.

The four-legged friend sees more of Istanbul than some people from Istanbul: The stray dog, who is stray dogs, covers up to forty kilometers a day on Istanbul's public transport.

Like a vacationer, he drifts through the big city crowd.

The Kangal mongrel probably prefers to travel in the middle part of the metro, which is called “Boji” in Turkish. The street dog was christened as "Boji" by those responsible for the transport company. City administration employees also regularly pick him up for a health check: he is fit and vaccinated. A behavioral study was also conducted with Boji to ensure that human interaction was not a problem for him or those around him.

In the meantime, Boji has also been equipped with a GPS tracker to track his travels. Accordingly, he is out and about every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and likes to spend the night on the Asian side of the city. He not only travels by tram and subway, but also takes the ferry across the Bosphorus twice a day. Boji knows the rules of public transport. He is also polite, the city administration says. He doesn't bark or bite - and he always gives way to other passengers when boarding. But even Boji has days when he doesn't feel like the crowd in the bus and train. He prefers to play with other dogs somewhere in the big city. And since there are so many stray animals in Istanbul, it is not difficult for Boji to find food. There are feeding bowls for animals in many corners of the city. Boji knows where to go.

Thousands of photos and videos on the web

Nobody really knows how long Boji has been around in Istanbul.

But for about two to three months more and more residents and tourists have been sharing photos of their encounters and reporting which line he is currently on: Boji, how he yawns with pleasure, how he sleeps casually on two tram seats.

Boji patiently waiting for the next ferry.

Boji, how he can be petted by passengers, or how he takes a midday nap in the crowd of the tram.

In the meantime, the stowaway on four paws is a star in the network - and has taken the hearts of his followers by storm.

His Instagram and Twitter profiles each have more than 90,000 followers.

He also promotes urban transport services on social media.

Even Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu occasionally appears on Boji's account.

But as the mascot of the city administration ruled by the opposition, the dog also has opponents who complain about him online.

But Boji remains calm.

Nothing dissuades him from his daily foray through Istanbul.
