The Shimonoseki Kaikyo Marathon, which runs through the course along the Kanmon Strait, is a competition in which more than 10,000 runners from all over the country participate every year.



Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the tournament was held for the first time in two years, and the number of participants was limited to half of the usual year. Infection control measures were taken, such as submitting a check sheet stating that it was negative.



First, Misato Michishita, a native of Shimonoseki City, who won the gold medal in the women's marathon visually impaired class at the Tokyo Paralympics, who participated as a guest runner, said, "Let's do our best to aim for the goal in a fun, energetic and positive manner."
