In 2017, Ed Sheeran appeared in an episode of the seventh season of

Game of Thrones

in an attempt to surprise Maisie Williams who played the character of Arya Stark.

But the singer was very disappointed by the reaction of fans of the series who overwhelmingly criticized his cameo.

"I feel like I pissed off a lot of people doing this, but every time I meet someone who says something like, 'Oh, you made a cameo on this show,' can I tell?

Anyone would have said yes.

I was a fan of the show and they asked me to be in it.

I never expected there to be such a backlash so now I really take my precautions when I am offered cameos, ”he told Dave Berry on his

Breakfast Show.

A fiasco

In the sequence in question, Ed Sheeran plays a soldier singing in front of a campfire before Maisie Williams, aka Arya Stark, comes to sit next to him.

The creators of the series wanted to surprise her when her character was supposed to disappear at the end of the season, which was ultimately not the case.

And to top it off, the surprise had been vented by Sophie Turner who for her part played Sansa Stark.

So, we are surely not about to see Ed Sheeran in a cameo again anytime soon!
