On November 3, the 2020 National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in Beijing. Suzhou Academician Gu Songfen won the 2020 National Science and Technology Award.

On the 4th, the reporter visited the ancestral home of Academician Gu Songfen in Suzhou.

The old house is located at 116 Shizi Street, not far from Wangxing Bridge, Suzhou. It was built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty and is now called "Gu Tinglong's Former Residence". It is a protected building under the control of Suzhou City.

Academician Gu Songfen, the Weiting Gu family, is known as the "first reading family in the south of the Yangtze River" and is a well-known scholarly family in Suzhou. His father Gu Tinglong is a well-known ancient book edition scientist, bibliographer and calligrapher in China. He once served as the Shanghai Library curator.

Academician Gu Songfen did not choose to inherit his father's mantle, but turned to science and made some achievements.

In 2019, as one of the first pilot projects for the protection and repair of ancient buildings and old houses in Suzhou, Gu House began to implement protection and repair, and it is currently not open to the outside world.

It is understood that after the completion of the project, the restoration and exhibition of furniture, books and other items used by the father and son Gu Tinglong and Gu Songfen will also be studied.
