A great end-of-year gift!

Disney on Monday unveiled the first trailer and release date for its second and new live-action series set in the Star Wars universe,

The Book of Boba Fett

.

A spin-off produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Robert Rodriguez.

Remember!

In the post-credits scene for Season 2 of

The Mandalorian

, we saw Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and mercenary Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) in Jabba the Hutt's lair on Tatooine.

While the latter was killed by Princess Leia in Episode VI, his throne appears to be occupied by Bib Fortuna (Matthew Wood).

"I thought you were dead", launches the Twi'lek to Boba Fett, in reference to this scene from Return of the Jedi in which the character falls into the mouth of Sarlacc.

Without a word, Boba Fett kills him and settles on the throne of the leader of the Hutts.

An intergalactic “Game of Thrones”?

Unsurprisingly, the trailer for the Book of Boba Fett therefore opens on the desert planet Tatooine.

"I am not a bounty hunter," launches the voice of Boba Fett.

It seems that Boba Fett is keen to seize the opportunities of this new era without Empire and the void left by his former boss Jabba the Hutt.

This is why we then see Boba Fett trying to rally the crime lieutenants who worked for Jabba the Hutt to his cause.

The images show us an Ithorian, also installed on a throne.

While criminal forces are omnipresent in the trailer, this noble Ithorian may be hinting that other authorities will try to get involved in Tatooine's affairs.

Finally, another shot reveals a Twi'Lek that seems to be important.

These images allow us to hope for some sort of gang war with lies and betrayals for control of Tatooine.

In short, we hope for an intergalactic "Game of Thrones"

The rest of the trailer takes us in particular to the desert, to the Tuskens.

Boba Fett may have lived among them after his fall in the Sarlacc since he had one of their sticks at the start of Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Will they be his allies to take control of Tatooine?

Answer on December 29 on Disney +!
