Kashmir... 22 people died, their bus fell into a ravine half a kilometer deep

At least 22 people, including women and children, died when a bus plunged into a deep valley from an altitude of nearly half a kilometer in the Pakistan-controlled part of Kashmir.

"Reuters" quoted a police officer as saying that eight other passengers on the bus were in a critical condition in hospital.

He explained that the bus was on its way to the city of Rawalpindi when its driver lost control of it while passing through a mountain road.

He explained that the bus "apparently encountered technical malfunctions."
