A villa of 400 m2 on a plot of 47,000 m2 is the subject of debate in Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).

This huge property was put up for sale at a price of 6,360,000 euros on the bay of Lafitenia, reports

Sud-Ouest on

 Tuesday.

The Akotze Zain association denounces this real estate transaction in a natural place to be preserved.

According to the ad posted online by a real estate agency, “this property, built in 1911, occupies an exceptional site.

(…) The land of the villa is also located on the ocean side over an area of four hectares, in the middle of a natural area ”.

For the association, it is precisely these four hectares on the beach that pose a problem.

What will become of them when they acquire the house, ask its members.

Towards a pre-emption of the town hall?

“In our eyes, controlling land is a priority issue for the preservation of natural spaces or the reasoned development of activities in this Acotz area.

In our opinion, this announcement should therefore be the opportunity to carry out a partial preemption (only of natural land) by the public authorities ”, Akotze Zain indicates to our colleagues.

For its part, the municipality confirms that it will study the possibility of a pre-emption in connection with the local public land establishment.

The Akotze Zain association was originally created to fight against the luxury hotel and restaurant project, Carlos Beach Lafitenia.

Defenders of the environment fear an attack on the coast and protected natural areas.
