COP26 Snip to methane and 16,000 million to protect the 'lungs' of the planet
Greta Thunberg has decided to adopt a more festive tone than usual when passing through Glasgow.
The 18-year-old Swedish activist joined a group of protesters at Festival Park and chanted openly "You
can shove your climate crisis up yuor ass"
in a very direct message to the leaders.
Greta visited the COP26 headquarters for the first time on Tuesday and had a meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres.
The day before, he had his photo taken with Scotland's Chief Minister Nicola Sturgeon, but
has not held any formal meeting with representatives of the British Government.
Interestingly, Boris Johnson decided to paraphrase it in his keynote address when he said he wanted "action in the real world" and referred to promises from leaders as "blah blah blah."
"Inside the COP there are politicians and people in power who pretend to take our future seriously,"
the Swedish activist replied.
"To all of them we say:" No more blah, blah, bal, no more exploitation of nature, people and the planet. "
Thunberg will lead Fridays for Future's school strikes and demonstrations on Friday.
Saturday will be added to the Day of Action called by the Coalition Cop26.
So far, the disruption caused by groups like Extinction Rebellion has been quite moderate, amid a deployment of 10,000 police officers patrolling the city and around the Cop26 fortified compound where more than 15,000 delegates gather daily.
