On October 29, at the construction site of the Fengning Pumped-storage Power Station in Hebei, Xinyuan, State Grid, the staff were carrying out various commissioning work for the first unit in an orderly manner.
According to reports, the Fengning Pumped Storage Power Station has a total investment of nearly 20 billion yuan, a total installed capacity of 3.6 million kilowatts, and a total of 12 units. It is currently the world's largest pumped storage power station under construction.
The pivotal project is composed of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water delivery system, underground powerhouse system, switch station and other buildings.
After the project is completed, it will undertake six functions including peak shaving, frequency modulation, phase modulation, energy storage, system backup and black start.
At present, the reverse power transmission of the 500kV system has been completed, and the commissioning of the first unit is being carried out in an orderly manner. It is planned that the first unit will be connected to the grid at the end of the year, which will not only better serve the rapid growth of wind power and photovoltaics in North China. To meet new demand for peak shaving, and actively serve the all-green power supply for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
