A father in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, detained his 10-year-old daughter and chained her to a bed for three years to prevent her from visiting her mother after she asked him for a divorce.

In the details of the painful incident, the director of Dakahlia Security received a notification from the warden of the Mit Ghamr center in southern Dakahlia, according to which a report was received from the residents of the village of Kom Al-Nour, affiliated to the Mit Ghamr Center, that a girl was found tied to chains inside an abandoned house in the village, and they accused her father of restraining her for three years.

After the detectives moved to the scene of the incident, the girl was found, chained by her feet to the bed, squatting and crying. When asked, she confirmed that her father tied her to prevent her from going out and going to her mother, who divorced him.

Detectives officers untied the girl and transferred her to Mit Ghamr General Hospital for treatment and medical examination.

According to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, which published the pictures of the girl and her place of detention, eyewitnesses from the parents confirmed that the girl, called Shahd, disappeared three years ago. Two young men entered the house from the top of the roofs to investigate the reason for crying and were surprised by the little girl tied to the bed in one of the rooms and there was no food next to her.

The officers of the Mit Ghamr Investigation Center arrested the father, who justified his behavior by keeping his daughter so that she would not leave the house in the absence of him when she was at a dangerous age.

A report was opened for the incident and referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation.
