Yesterday morning, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited the art exhibition “Bright Letters”, by Emirati plastic artist and calligrapher Muhammad Mandi, at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum.

Upon his visit, His Highness was received by Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, and Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection.

The exhibition, which will run until the fourth of next December, celebrates the Emirati artist Mohammed Mandi and his creative works that were inspired by the Emirati environment between the past and the present, and the sayings of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which he expressed in his own artistic style.

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, toured the corridors of the exhibition, listening to a detailed explanation from the artist, Mohamed Mandi, about the exhibited works, highlighting their artistic significance, which reflected his vision and inspiration from national sayings and occasions, among others.

The exhibition conveys Mandi’s scientific and practical journey during which he led his passion in calligraphy and art, through his teaching of calligraphy, and the implementation of a number of works that testify to his achievements, including designing texts for the outer cover of the Emirati passport, writing correspondence, slogans and poems, God willing, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan .

During his career, Mandi sought to develop his skill in calligraphy and teach him the best skills at the hands of many famous calligraphers, as he joined many schools and specialized institutes, such as the School of Improving Arabic Calligraphy in Cairo in 1975, in which he obtained first in the ranking at the level of the Arab Republic of Egypt in a certificate Diploma, and in Istanbul, Mandi was taught by the most skilled calligraphers, such as Sheikh Hassan Chalabi and the calligrapher Fouad Bashar Talbi.

The exhibition includes a group of works that Mohamed Mandi participated in, such as banknotes, coins and coins, in addition to certificates of thanks and appreciation, and the publications in which he participated, such as books and magazines, and his photos with a number of sheikhs and leaders, memories of his learning and his participation in exhibitions.

The exhibition also includes an artistic painting entitled “Zayed the Leader” using the Diwani script, bearing the wisdom and sayings of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace, in addition to a painting entitled “Culture” designed in patch script, which included a collection of sayings by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.
