ISIS had made the Iraqi city of Mosul its capital.
The fighting to drive it out resulted in the destruction of much of the old town.
Today, Unesco has undertaken to rebuild it.

The Unesco project is called “rebuilding the spirit of Mosul”, a spirit that would allow the cohabitation of different mixed communities.
This project, funded by the United Arab Emirates, focuses on historic sites like the Al Nouri Mosque, destroyed by Daesh, and the Convent of Our Lady of the Hour, destroyed by the bombing of the city.
