On the evening of October 27, local time, a collapse occurred at a tunnel construction site in Gifu Prefecture of Japan's Maglev Central Shinkansen, resulting in one death and one serious injury.
The casualties were two male staff members who carried out blasting operations in the tunnel. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Japan Railway Tokai said that the maglev central shinkansen project has also experienced tunnel collapse accidents in the past, but this is the first time that there have been deaths.
