Unless there is a turnaround, Didier Six should no longer be the coach of the Guinean national team, for the rest of the
African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup
.
"
The Guinean Federation is in discussion with the coach Didier Six, for an amicable separation as soon as possible
", indeed indicates a press release from Féguifoot.
His two assistants, ex-striker Kaba Diawara and Mandjou Diallo, will act in the next two matches, scheduled for November 12 in Conakry against Guinea-Bissau and November 15 in Morocco.
On February 12, 2020, the former coach of the Togo team (2012-2013) and that of Mauritius (2015) had initialed a three-year contract, in order to officially succeed the Belgian Paul Put.
His mission was to qualify Sily National for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2022 World Cup.
A mission partly fulfilled since the Guineans have qualified for a
CAN 2021
(January 9-February 6 in Cameroon) during which they will play against Malawi (January 10), Senegal (January 14) and Zimbabwe (January 18).
Health problems and half-masted results
For the
2022 World Cup
, it is a failure, however.
Morocco landed the only ticket for the last round, in group I. “
A state of affairs which prompted the Guinean Football Federation requested an amicable separation with the French technician, who did not honor the second part of his contract,
”continues Féguifoot in a press release.
In fact, the year 2021 of Didier Six will have been mixed, with three victories, two defeats and three draws, in all competitions.
He had missed the last two matches of the selection (draw 2-2 against Sudan and defeat 4-1 against Morocco) following hospitalization for cerebral malaria.
Since the departure of Frenchman Michel Dussuyer in 2015, Luis Fernandez, Lappé Bangoura, Paul Put and Didier Six have taken their places on the bench of Sily National.
None have found the formula to allow Guinea to shine in the long term.
