Which teams will join that of Morocco in the final phase of the next African Cup of Nations for women in football, which the Kingdom of Morocco is supposed to organize from July 2 to 23, 2022?

This October 26, 2021, the first round of qualifying for this women's CAN 2022 has almost ended.

Almost because the Sudan-Algeria meeting could not take place and was postponed indefinitely because of the political context in Khartoum.

But the Algerians won the first leg 14-0.

They should therefore, unless there is a turnaround, face the South Africans, in the second round, next February ...

A second round of which we therefore know ten of the eleven confrontations.

Confrontations which will probably be much more balanced than in the first round.

A Nigeria - Ivory Coast expected

Among these, Tunisia - Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria - Ivory Coast are particularly expected.

The Tunisians were indeed impressive against the Egyptians, while the Equatorial Guineans, who have already won two CAN and played a World Cup, took advantage of the package of the Congolese DRC to advance without playing.

The Ivorians, they crushed the Nigerians (20-0 over the whole of the two meetings), while the Nigerians struggled to eliminate the Ghanaian women (2-0 in the first leg, 0-1 in the return).

Nigeria, three-time defending champion, will however be favorites against Côte d'Ivoire.

Note that the 2022 Women's CAN will be the first edition with 12 teams and that the semi-finalists of this competition will automatically qualify for a 2023 World Cup scheduled in Australia and New Zealand.
