An internationally wanted suspected bank robber was arrested at the Taunusblick service station on the A5 near Frankfurt.

As the Central Hesse police headquarters announced on Wednesday, civilian officials managed to catch the wanted 35-year-old during a check on Monday.

The Russian was reportedly noticed when officials checked a car with a Bulgarian registration.

He is accused of robbing a bank near Moscow in 2019 with several accomplices.

The perpetrators managed to steal around 1.6 million euros, it said.

The 35-year-old man is now in extradition custody.
