It was found that the city estimates that the cost of restoration of the water bridge that collapsed earlier this month in Wakayama City will be approximately 1.6 billion yen.

Approximately 40% of this is planned to be covered by utilizing the subsidy projects newly established by the government in response to this collapse.

On the 3rd of this month, a part of the water pipe bridge over the "Kinokawa" in Wakayama City collapsed, and about 60,000 households, which is close to 40% of the city, were cut off for a week.

At the same time, the city installed a temporary water pipe on the bridge on the prefectural road to resume water supply, and then considered a full-scale restoration method for the bridge.

As a result, we decided to replace the collapsed part with the front and back, and found that the cost is currently expected to be about 1.6 billion yen.

In response to this collapse, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has newly established a subsidy project for the reconstruction and renewal of water pipe bridges that have been installed for more than 40 years, and the city will utilize this project to cover about 40% of the cost. The plan is to cover it with government subsidies and secure the rest by issuing local bonds.

The city plans to proceed with contracts with contractors and aim for restoration by the end of May next year.
