On the occasion of the OM-PSG match on Sunday, Free offered its Ligue 1 offer for free, a sort of "best-of" live from the football match.

Free access announced on the channel of Europe 1 the week before the meeting, with the aim of attracting more sports fans to its platform.

The bet succeeded.

In order to raise awareness of its offer in Ligue 1 and increase its audiences, Free offered its service for free on Sunday, on the occasion of the OM-PSG clasico.

Users of the "Free Ligue 1" application had access, without paying anything, to the atypical service offered by the company: the best moments of the match live (but not the entire match) and a "best-of" "of the best actions at the end of the match.

Thomas Reynaud, managing director of the Iliad group, the parent company of Free, announced this free service on Europe 1 on Tuesday.

Over a million videos viewed

Result: the Free Ligue 1 application has seen a historic record of downloads since this announcement.

The curiosity effect therefore worked well upstream.

And it was confirmed on Sunday night, with an audience doubled during the match, compared to previous league days.

Free announces more than one million videos viewed and three million page views on its application during OM-PSG.

It remains to be seen whether the public thus acquired by Free will remain on its application for the next Ligue 1 matches. This new way of offering football, via a sort of live best-of, could compete with the offers of match broadcasters in that are Amazon, Canal +, TF1 and M6.
