On July 1, a statue of Lady Diana was unveiled in London (United Kingdom).

But it's a bit like the tree that hides the forest: a study has just revealed that there are twice as many animal statues as there are female statues in the British capital.

In its study, the Art UK organization identified some 1,500 London monuments, reports

20.5% of the statues are dedicated to a man, against 4% for women (50 sculptures).

It is two times less than those in homage to animals (100 statues).

Finally, only 1.1% of the statues pay homage to people of color (0.9% men and 0.2% women).

On Thursday, the Mayor of London announced the creation of a £ 1million fund to bring more diversity to the city's monuments.

Sadiq Khan himself comes from a family of Pakistani origin.

The sculpture of this slave trader was thrown into the river port during a Black Lives Matter demonstration after the death of George Floyd in the United States, recalls
