The electric scooter has had the same success with a sales increase of 36%. In order to promote soft mobility, financial aid is now available. For example, for the purchase of a VAE, it is possible to benefit from a national subsidy (in addition to assistance paid by a local authority) under the condition of a tax income less than or equal to 13,489 euros.

Although 2020 was the great cycling boom, the French still rank 18th among European countries to use two-wheelers on a daily basis.

In total, 8% of French people use the bicycle as their main mode of transport, compared to 36% in the Netherlands (according to the European Cyclists Federation).
