A special exhibition is being held at the Nakatsu History Museum in Oita Prefecture to introduce small items such as bags and pouches made with the motif of items excavated from ancient burial mounds.

At the venue of this special exhibition entitled "Exhibition to admire the tumulus earnestly", more than 30 works by Yumie Miyano, a leather craftsman from Fukuoka City, will be exhibited in order to get people interested in cultural properties as a result of handmade works. I am.

Mr. Miyano, who is also a lover of tumuli, has been making leather products such as bags and pouches with the motif of items excavated from tumuli for about five years and is gaining popularity.

Among the exhibits, the bird-shaped tote bag is modeled after the "waterfowl-shaped haniwa" excavated from the Marukumayama Tumulus in Fukuoka Prefecture, and is displayed side by side with the actual haniwa.

In addition, a pouch that looks like a pottery from the Jomon period, which is shaped like the face of a person excavated in Nakatsu City, is also introduced.

A woman from Fukuoka Prefecture said, "The details of cultural properties are expressed in leather, which is amazing."

Akiko Takasaki, director of the Nakatsu History Museum, said, "I want you to know that you can enjoy cultural properties from various perspectives such as making things and fashionable goods."

This exhibition will be held at the Nakatsu History Museum until the 14th of next month.
