Under thirty meters deep, in a brownish water where you can barely see thirty centimeters in front of you, hide real treasures, from Roman Antiquity.

This week, a team of archaeologists from the Department of Underwater and Underwater Archaeological Research of the Ministry of Culture is doing a series of dives in Arles with one goal: to discover new objects that line the depths of the Rhône.

To carry out their heritage conservation mission, archaeologists can rely on a unique partnership.

This Wednesday, alongside them, Indiana Joneses of a somewhat peculiar kind donned fins and snorkels.

The Paca gendarmes have in fact also proceeded to locate the premises.

The objective is clear: to help fight against archaeological looting, a growing phenomenon in the region.
