The police and the public prosecutor's office took action against child pornography on the Internet in Lower Franconia on Thursday.

Around 100 emergency services had searched the homes of 26 suspects in all of Lower Franconia (Bavaria) early in the morning, said the Lower Franconia Police Headquarters in Würzburg and the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office.

During the action, a lot of evidence was secured, which is now being evaluated.

All arrested people were released after the police measures were over, it said.

Prosecutor General Wolfgang Gründler said the action once again illustrates the enormous efforts that the authorities are making to emphatically prevent the distribution of child pornographic material.

In addition to the police in Lower Franconia, the three public prosecutor's offices in Schweinfurt, Würzburg and Aschaffenburg and the Bavarian Center for Combating Child Pornography and Sexual Abuse on the Internet (ZKI) at the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office were involved in the search.
