He has participated in the Jinan Campaign, Huaihai Campaign, Crossing the River Campaign, Shanghai Campaign, and a series of battles along the southeast coast.

He has won the third-class merit three times, and was awarded the Huaihai Battle Memorial Medal, the Memorial Medal of the Battle of Crossing the River, and the Medal of Honor to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

On the 19th, Lu Zhijian said in an interview with Chinanews.com: "After so many battles, I was lucky to survive and witnessed the prosperity of the country, the people living and working in peace and contentment, and the blood of comrades-in-arms was not in vain."

In the interview, Lu Zhijian recalled the battle of Changjin Lake that he will never forget.

He said that not long after the train arrived in North Korea, they received an order that the railway ahead was destroyed by the enemy and they had to stand by.

After about an hour, I suddenly saw the US military reconnaissance plane roaring overhead and dropping bombs on the hidden mountains of the troops. Unfortunately, many soldiers died.

After the air raid, the train was destroyed and the troops had to walk to the battlefield.

Hidden during the day and rushed at night, 7 days later, he finally rushed to the front line in heavy snow.

On the evening of November 27, 1950, Lu Zhijian's 27th Army and 80th Division, braved the freezing temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius, marched in the northeast of Changjin Lake.

In order to avoid enemy reconnaissance planes and bombers, they lie in ambush in the snow during the day and march quickly at night.

Due to lack of warm clothing, some soldiers fell in the wind and snow.

When he was thirsty, he grabbed a bite of the snow, and when he was hungry, he ate icy buns and potatoes. It was not until the end of the battle that he found that he had frozen 10 toes.

According to old man Lu Zhijian, when his 27th Army entered the Changjin Lake area, it encountered a severe cold in North Korea once in 50 years.

He said: "The bolts of the gun were frozen at the time, and the hand and the gun were glued together, and it hurt fiercely when they moved. We used the long spear with a bayonet to stab the enemy desperately."

Lu Zhijian led a combat team of two fighters into a U.S. military camp late at night.

At this time, except for the two sentries, everyone else was sleeping soundly in their sleeping bags.

After Lu Zhijian and his comrades quietly killed the sentry, they raided the enemy camp and wiped out many American troops.

At the end of the battle, the three of them were ambushed while searching for the remnant enemy, and two comrades died unfortunately.

"Seeing the comrades around me falling down one by one, my heart seemed to be bleeding." The elderly Lu Zhijian choked and said, his 19-year-old brother Lu Jian also died on the battlefield of resisting U.S. aggression and aid Korea while performing communications missions.

In 1955, Lu Zhijian was demobilized and returned to his hometown. The local government arranged for him to be the principal of a school.

Because he hadn't read many books, Lu Zhijian declined the arrangement and voluntarily asked to return to his hometown to work as a farmer.

He was elected as the captain of the fifth production team of Lucun Brigade, leading the villagers to develop production, build water conservancy projects, and build high-yield fields.
