Thonon-les-Bains (Haute-Savoie) presented this Monday the new municipal vehicle designed to issue tickets in the streets of the city.

This is a Renault Zoe equipped with eight cameras that automatically read the license plates in order to report unpaid parking, explains

Two people will be in the car from November 1.

The driver will be accompanied by another police officer responsible for correcting any errors in the machine.

Putting the vehicles into circulation cost the city 150,000 euros.

The purpose of the operation is to avoid “patronage” and to put an end to the “jungle” of parking in the city center, assured Mayor Christian Arminjon.

Greater equity of treatment

Equality between drivers will be respected, rejoiced the city councilor after affirming that some elected officials, doctors or police officers dispensed from paying their parking.

SOS Médecins cars will benefit from free parking, unlike other vehicles adorned with a caduceus.

"There is an interest in the community to maintain this service," said the mayor of Thonon-les-Bains.

Drivers with disabilities will only have to pay after the 12th hour of parking.
