Endesa and Iberdrola have stood up to the Government in the great renewable auction held this Tuesday to award a regulated remuneration to
3,300 megawatts
of 'green' power.
Endesa justifies its decision by the effects of the measures included in the
Royal Decree Law designed by Transición Ecológica.
Specifically, due to the obligation it imposes on the country's large electricity groups to auction part of their electricity production among large industrial clients and independent marketers.
Company sources argue that this loss of production leads them to have to buy electricity in the wholesale market to supply its millionaire customer base, the largest in the country, so the group is committed to focusing its strategy on promoting its own generation .
For their part, Iberdrola sources justify their decision in the current context of "regulatory uncertainty" after the legislative change approved by the Government.
The companies that attend the auction and are awarded agree to offer a stipulated amount of energy to the market during a specific period of time.
This electricity will be remunerated at the price that is committed in the auction.
The bid is structured in different quotas or power reserves, among which 600 MW stand out, which will have to be operational within eight months, to advance savings, and 300 MW for small photovoltaic installations with relevant local participation.
