While the Polish Constitutional Court ruled that Polish law takes precedence over European law, several presidential candidates have also claimed more sovereignty in France.

Critics emanating from Marine Le Pen to Arnaud Montebourg, via Valérie Pécresse or Michel Barnier and whom the Head of State has qualified as "old French disease".
