A game of cubes in the hands of a teenager sparked panic in a German town, and triggered a large-scale security operation in which the Federal Police participated.

German website Deutsche Vila reported that a teenager triggered a large-scale security operation in Germany after a restaurant owner thought the toy gun he was carrying was a real weapon.

A witness told the police that he saw a 15-year-old boy, dressed in camouflage, apparently carrying a rifle, walking around the southern German town of Lindau.

"Of course we had to go immediately," a Lindau police officer told the Lindauer Zeitung newspaper.

According to media reports, several patrol cars and a number of federal policemen rushed to stop the boy.

The Austrian news agency reported that it was found that the boy, whose name was not mentioned, was not carrying a real weapon, but rather a toy made of cubes.
