Victorious in their first leg of the second preliminary round of the Champions League away from home, Horoya from Conakry and Zamalek from Cairo took a good option on qualifying for the group stage.

The Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, winner 3-1 at home, is also in good shape.

The West African derby between two ultra-dominant clubs in their countries, six-fold reigning champions, has turned to the advantage of the Guinean team.

This thanks to a goal from Ghanaian Enock Atta Agyei (0-1).

This away success opens wide the doors to the group stage at the HAC, which will be able to settle for a draw at home in a week, against the champion of Mali, used to stopping in the preliminary round.

Earlier, Zamalek, who entered the competition as Horoya AC, achieved the same performance by going to beat Kenyan club Tusker with a goal from Moroccan Achraf Bencharki.

ASEC Mimosas is also on track to get its ticket for the final phase.

The champion of Côte d'Ivoire won against Belouizdad, despite the opening scoring by the Algerians (3-1).

The Mimos reacted quickly and went ahead thanks to the double from Karim Konaté, before the third goal of Pokou N'Guessan, important for the return match in Algeria.

Al Ahly and the Almighty Mazembe held in check

The double Egyptian title holder was surprised by the US National Gendarmerie.

The Niamey club managed to equalize after the opening scoring of Tunisian left side Ali Maaloul (1-1).

A very good performance for the Nigerien team before the return match in Cairo.

The other giant of Africa hanging on, the Tout Puissant Mazembe is more in danger after his draw (0-0) on the ground of Amuzulu FC, second of the last season of the South African championship.

The Ravens will have to be more effective in a week in Lubumbashi, because any result other than a victory could deprive them of the group stage of the Champions League: even a draw with goals would eliminate them.
