A large number of residents of a rural district in Kenya have taken revenge on a serial killer known as the "Child Killer", who managed to escape from prison a few days ago.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation "BBC", the people of the rural Bangoma region, western Kenya, tracked down Masten Fangala and beat him violently to death.

The police had arrested Vangala, who was on the run, and had confessed to killing more than ten children over a five-year period.

Vangala also admitted that he drugged his victims and drank their blood.

According to press reports, after escaping from his prison in the capital, Nairobi, Fangala was able to return to the area where his family, who had disowned him, lived, and the neighbors knew of his arrival and tracked him.

According to a Bangoma police official, Fangala tried to mislead the people of the area by going to a nearby house.

"We don't know for sure how Vangala was able to travel all the way from Nairobi to his village," said a police official.

He added, "The villagers, with their curiosity, knew his whereabouts and killed him even before notifying the police."

Vangala used to introduce himself to his victims as a football coach to convince them to go with him to remote areas where he would attack them.

Sometimes Vangala took these victims hostage and demanded ransom in exchange for their release.

After the police arrested him last July, Vangala escorted the policemen to the places where his victims were buried, and there the victims were found.
