The soaring prices at the pump are putting many French people in difficulty and the government is still looking for a solution.

If Emmanuel Macron spoke this week of "diplomatic action" to act on prices, the CFDT, the leading union in France, believes that the state is not the only holder of the solution.

"A reflection" on salaries

Its first secretary, Laurent Berger, believes on RMC that "we must also ask employers to play the game."

“You need a fuel check on an ad hoc basis, it's essential for a whole bunch of citizens,” he says, while affirming that this short-term measure envisaged by the government is not enough.

"In a company where employees travel a lot, because they are not necessarily very close" to their workplace, "it would be very good for there to be a reflection" on this question, wishes the boss of the CFDT.

He calls in particular for wage negotiations to pass the price of gasoline on to wages.
