I always thought that my arm would grow like that gecko's tail.

[Explanation] He accidentally lost his right arm at the age of 5, began to practice table tennis at the age of 8, was selected for the Chinese national team at the age of 13, and brought a racket to Jinan to open the stadium alone after retiring.

On October 14, at the Liu Xu Table Tennis Club in Jinan, Shandong Province, the "post-90s" retired table tennis player Liu Xu told reporters about her path to table tennis.

While meeting friends with the ball, Liu Xu walked into the campus to popularize professional training knowledge of table tennis for public welfare, so that more people could experience the charm and excitement of sports.

Liu Xu said that the reason for embarking on the road of table tennis stems from a special experience in childhood.

I was my father and mother taking me and my younger brother to the farm. When I was a child, I might be naughty. Seeing that there was rice in the rice harvester, I reached out and grabbed it. When I grabbed it, the call happened in an instant. The machine just turned, and the arm was cut out in just one shot.

Then my mother felt that it gave me a skill in the future, and then she trained me to play table tennis.

[Explanation] After the arm was injured, Liu Xu did not think that she had encountered more hardships than others.

In her memory, her mother would always tell her, don't be afraid of anything you encounter, and if you are physically disabled, she can do what others can do.

After this arm is injured, the body will become unbalanced and will often fall when walking.

When I was young, I played on a concrete floor, and my knee was covered with sand beads when I fell. It was normal.

When others are resting, I practice more. If others practice 10 pots, I will practice 100 pots. I say I can do it. I think others can do me too. So I also learn like them. If I pay more, I have a chance to surpass. .

[Explanation] With the spirit of "I can do it too", Liu Xu's left arm has won many national championship honors.

After retiring, she didn't want to just go to work, but brought table tennis and rackets to Jinan, hoping to pass on what she had learned to more people and let more people come into contact with table tennis.

Because my arm was injured, there were thousands of hands helping me.

(The country) actually arranged a job, and it was pretty good, but my heart at that time felt that when I was a child, you actually suffered a bit through competitive sports table tennis. I want to use table tennis to see what’s outside. In the world, I think my skill, first my mother chose it for me, and another country trained me. I don't want to be limited to work, I also want to pass on my skill.

[Explanation] Liu Xu said that the growth and persistence along the way cannot be separated from the support and help of many people around him, but before the establishment of the table tennis club, Liu Xu started his own ping-pong charity cause and brought free table tennis courses into it. Primary and secondary school campuses allow more children to experience the charm of sports.

As a sports promoter, Liu Xu also led her coaching team into 7 campuses to do table tennis training for charity.

After opening the arena, and among the first 3 children I came, there was a kid who told me, Coach Liu, can you come to our school and take us to play? This kid triggered me, and I said yes. As a result, the school launched a table tennis public welfare class, and I embarked on this path.

Later, instead of just entering this school, I went to 7 primary schools in Jinan for charity training.

[Explanation] As long as the school has the conditions, as long as the time can be arranged, Liu Xu will unconditionally take public welfare courses. Liu Xu told reporters that he went all the way to the north and south and made good bonds with a racket, and he also received many people. Liu Xu is doing his best to give back to the society while reaping care for his support and help.

Regarding the future, Liu Xu said that she hopes that through her efforts, she can help more people learn table tennis, change their lives and even change their destiny through table tennis.
